Almost There: Chicago On Cusp of R1 Triumph After 7-1 Win
The Chicago Gold Sox moved to within one game of the Round 2 today, downing the visiting Las Vegas Flamingos at Gold Sox Field by a score of 7-1. Gold Sox right-hander Tom McKee was named player of the game after a strong outing in which he came in in relief and pitched to 24 batters . The win gives the Gold Sox a - advantage in the best-of- Round 1.

Chicago catcher Manuel Guillama helped the Gold Sox go up, 3-1, in the bottom of the fourth inning. With the game tied, Guillama hit a 2-run home run off Las Vegas pitcher Art Adams.

"We were the better team today. Maybe that won't be the case next game, but we'll enjoy it for now," McKee told the Chicago Chronicle.
