Middies Best Cattlemen in Pitching Duel
|
The Grafton Middies topped the Ft. Worth Cattlemen, 1-0, in United States Silver League action at The Cattle Pen. The player of the game was Grafton pitcher Luis Torres. The winning pitcher was Torres, now 1-2. He tossed 6 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 5. Kenete Daku, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 5th save.
Early in the game, shortstop Carlos Maldonado had a run-scoring single for Grafton. It was his 25th hit of the season and put the Middies on top, 1-0.
"There was no wiggle room in this one," said Maldonado.
Grafton, at 12-10, occupies 4th place in the Silver League.
