Black Cats Turn Back Yellowknife, 4-3
|
The Gwinnett County Black Cats did just enough to secure a 4-3 victory over the Yellowknife Dragonblood at Pipers Ballpark. Nobody did more than pitcher Rich Choquette, who captured player of the game honors. In 8 innings, Choquette surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 2. He allowed 2 runs. Nicolas Michel notched his 4th save in 4 chances.
Gwinnett County took the lead in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and the bases loaded, Quentin Harrop stroked a run-scoring single to make it 3-2, Black Cats.
"I'm just happy to help the team win," Choquette told the Gwinnett County Times.
Gwinnett County, at 33-29, sits in 4th place in the Premier A.
