Thrilling Walk-Off Win for Generals
|
Both teams had their chances, but the Washington Generals eventually prevailed at Washington Park.
Washington rode a fine outing from starter Phillip Donoghue to victory over the Gwinnett County Black Cats at Washington Park. The final score was 3-2. Randy Gabaldon picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 5-0. Francisco Medrano was tagged with the loss.
Gerardo Herváz was the walk-off hero for Washington. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Generals second baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Herváz, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
The 'W' lifts Washington's record to 34-24.
