Generals Cut Down Chukars, 6-5
|
The Idaho Falls Chukars got a superb performance from shortstop Pedro Martínez. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Washington. The Generals won the game, 6-5. In spite of the loss, Martínez was named the player of the game. He was 3-3 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Washington reliever Orlando Peralta picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Sandro Pérez shouldered the loss. Randy Gabaldon finished the game for Washington and earned his 7th save.
Keizo Morishita had a clutch at-bat with one out in the top of the seventh for the Generals. Coming up with runners on 2nd and 3rd and Washington trailing 5-4, he hit a 2-run single.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Morishita. "And not try to do too much."
Washington, at 16-17, occupies 6th place in the Premier A.
