Chukars Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Herons

Both teams had their chances, but the Idaho Falls Chukars eventually prevailed at Idaho Falls Park.
Idaho Falls first baseman Dan Cummings had 3 ribbies while helping his team defeat the Hammond Herons, 8-7. Idaho Falls reliever Sandro Pérez picked up the win, upping his record to 3-0. Risto Latva shouldered the loss. Ramón Granados recorded the save for Idaho Falls, his 5th of the season.
Had Shih-k'ai Sima not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Sima hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 8-7, in favor of the Chukars.
"Feels good to get the job done," Sima said after the game.
Idaho Falls now has a 3-game win streak.
