The Walla Walla Walleye got a magnificent performance from pitcher Steve Monroe, who muffled the Columbia offense en route to a tight 3-1 Walleye win at Walleye Tank. Monroe, the winner, moves to 1-0. He threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up 4 walks. The Walleye raised their record to 5-5.
In the top of the third, with the game tied and one out, Columbia had runners on 1st and 2nd. Michael Brannon had a chance to do some damage. But he flied out.
