Storm Sneak Past Cauldrons, 5-4
|
In a close game at Storm Park, the Syracuse Storm edged the Hogsmeade Cauldrons, 5-4. Syracuse right fielder Tsuginori Kobayashi earned the nod as player of the game. He was 3 for 4 with a triple and 2 singles, while scoring 3 times. Manuel Montero picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 5-1. Rauno Seales was tagged with the loss. Nand Lal Chaudhary got the save, his 12th in 17 chances.
Vince Staples drew 1 walk in his only trip to the plate for Syracuse. The 23-year old first baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 4-4 tie with a run-scoring walk off Rauno Seales. It was his 37th walk of the season.
"It feels good to get that win," said Kobayashi. "Now it's on to the next one."
The Cauldrons, now 43-51, have lost 4 in a row.
