Bruins Stay Hot With 5-2 Win
|
The Bellevue Bruins picked up a win at Ballpark of Mt. Vernon, knocking off the Mt. Vernon Bulls, 5-2. On the mound for Bellevue was right-hander Jerry Kumpf, who played a pivotal role in the win. Kumpf picked up the win for Bellevue, going 8 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 8 hits. He now sports a record of 10-5. Paco Salazar closed the game out for Bellevue, earning his 34th save.
Also making an impact was right fielder Todd Albrecht, who drilled a run-scoring double in the top of the second inning for the Bruins. For the game, Albrecht was 1-4 with a double.
"This was a good win for us," said Kumpf. "It's one more step toward our ultimate goal."
