Bulls Sneak Past Cauldrons, 7-6

With first baseman Rich Watkins leading the charge, the Mt. Vernon Bulls defeated the Hogsmeade Cauldrons, 7-6, at Ballpark of Mt. Vernon. Watkins was 2 for 3 with a home run, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 4. Mt. Vernon reliever Júlio Luna picked up the win to move to 2-3. Carlos Villegas suffered the loss. Mt. Vernon currently is in second place in the Silver A at 51-30.
Had Toby Sutton not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Sutton hit a run-scoring triple. That made the score 7-6, in favor of the Bulls.
"It was a solid team effort," said Watkins after the game.
