Delaware beat Syracuse at Storm Park, eking out a 3-2 win. The win was due in large part to pitcher Kent Horton, who earned player of the game honors. Horton got the win, improving to 3-10. He allowed 8 hits and walked 4 over 8.1 innings. Horton allowed 2 earned runs. Jay Mahabir earned the save for Delaware, his 2nd.
Mario Castillo went 1 for 3 with a double for Delaware. The 20-year old center fielder had a key at-bat in the top of the fifth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Oliver Parker. It was his 37th RBI of the season.
"Nice to put this one in the win column," said Horton.
Delaware now owns a record of 40-32.
