The Mt. Vernon Bulls got a superb performance from pitcher Willie Dustice, but the Delaware 1787 BC still won the game, 5-4. Dustice was named the player of the game despite the loss. He threw 7 innings of 2-hit ball. Francisco López recorded the save for Delaware, his 6th of the season. Delaware is now 17-12, while Mt. Vernon is 14-15.
Had Mario Castillo not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Castillo hit a run-scoring triple. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the 1787 BC.
"I like the grit of this ballclub," Castillo said.
