Cattlemen Turn Back Philadelphia 1776, 6-4
|
The Philadelphia 1776 BC got a superb performance from right fielder Cliff Aldridge. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Ft. Worth. The Cattlemen won the game, 6-4. In spite of the loss, Aldridge was named the player of the game. He slugged 2 home runs, while scoring 3 times and driving in 2. Gustavo Pérez got the win, improving to 1-0. He pitched 5.2 innings, giving up 8 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 4 and walking 2. Earning his 3rd save of the year was Asher Spivey.
In the top of the second inning, catcher Gilberto Juárez came through big-time for the Cattlemen. With Ft. Worth leading 4-0, he belted a 2-run home run.
"We'll pop the top on a cold one and get back to work tomorrow," Juárez said.
The Cattlemen, now 3-1, have played some good baseball in the early going.
