Dutchmen Get One-Run Win at Thunder Bay
|
The Thunder Bay Northern Lions BC got a superb performance from pitcher Anatoly Ivanovich, but the New Amsterdam Dutchmen still won the game, 3-2. Ivanovich was named the player of the game despite the loss. He threw 6 innings of 4-hit ball. Lorenzo Fabián got the win, improving to 1-0. He pitched 6.1 innings, giving up 8 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 3 and walking 2. Glenn Butler earned the save for New Amsterdam, his 3rd of the year.
Early in the game, catcher Félix López had a run-scoring double for New Amsterdam. It was his 1st double of the season and put the Dutchmen on top, 1-0.
Thunder Bay manager Scott Williams said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
The Dutchmen raised their record to 3-0.
