Seahawks Prevail, 1-0, Over Put-In-Bay
|
The Seahawks faced a stiff challenge from Put-In-Bay pitcher Barry Mullen, but persevered to claim a win at Put-In-Bay Ballpark. The final score was 1-0. Mullen went 9 innings and allowed 1 earned run. Octávio Valdéz got the win, improving to 1-3. He pitched 5.2 innings, giving up 3 hits and no runs, while striking out 7 and walking 1. The save went to Sam Schultz, his 2nd this season.
The Seahawks got a big at-bat from first baseman Danny Trautmann. For the game, Trautmann was 1 for 3 with a hit by pitch. In the top of the sixth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 25th hit of the season gave Myrtle Beach a 1-0 lead.
"We'll savor this win," Trautmann told the Myrtle Beach Bulletin, "then get ready for the next game."
The Seahawks' win now puts them at 10-13.
