Youth Get One-Run Win at Mercer Island
|
Arthur Clough pitched well, but the Mercer Island Screaming Eagles still lost the game, falling 3-2 to the Phoenix Hotspur Youth at Mercer Island Grounds. Phoenix Hotspur reliever Larry Souder picked up the win, upping his record to 2-3. Arthur Clough absorbed the loss. Leon von Stroheim closed the game out for Phoenix Hotspur, earning his 4th save.
Damian Alldred had a big run-scoring single for the Youth in the top of the fourth inning. With Phoenix Hotspur leading 2-0 and a runner on 2nd, he got a forkball from Arthur Clough and stroked the single to center. It was his 47th hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Youth ahead, 3-0.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Phoenix Hotspur manager Fabián Pineda said.
With the win, Phoenix Hotspur has a record of 50-47. Mercer Island falls to 60-37.
