Benefiting from an exceptional performance from Leon Carlisle, the Richland Rails defeated the Asheville Highlanders, 9-4. Carlisle was 2-4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3 for the Rails. Richland is now 39-56, while Asheville is 42-53.

Carlisle had an important at-bat with runners on 1st and 2nd in the top of the fifth, when he hit a 3-run home run. The Rails went on to win.
