Puente Touches All the Bases, Hits for Cycle
|
Richland's Víctor Puente accomplished what few others have done -- he hit for the cycle, collecting a single, double, triple and home run in the same game.
For the day, Puente finished 4-for-5 with 6 RBI and 1 run scored and helped the Rails knock off the Northville Eclipse 14-4 at Old-Timers Park.
"I didn't even know I was about to hit for the cycle until after," Puente told reporters following the game. "One of the guys mentioned it when I got back to the dugout."
Víctor Puente was hit by a pitch in the 1st, hit an RBI double in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Rizaldo Manansala in the 4th, flied out in the 6th, hit a two-run triple in the 7th and hit an RBI single in the 8th.
In 81 games Puente is hitting .259 this season with 76 hits, 13 home runs, 48 RBIs, 14 walks, .293 OBP and has scored 35 runs.
