Rails Solve Continentals, 5-4
|
The Richland Rails did just enough to sneak past the Chesapeake Continentals, 5-4, at Rails Ballpark. Richland designated hitter Michael Bradshaw earned player of the game honors. Chico Landi got credit for the win, improving to 7-2. He allowed 3 runs on 6 hits in 5.1 innings. Hartmann Riedman, credited with the save, is now 5 for 8 in save opportunities.
Bradshaw came through with some timely hitting for Richland. With the score 3-3 in the bottom of the fifth and two down, Bradshaw hit a 0-1 curveball for a run-scoring single. His 38th hit of the season made it 4-3, Richland.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Bradshaw told a Richland Today reporter. "Sometimes we need just to relax."
After today's action, Richland sits at 32-45, while Chesapeake falls to 39-38.
