Mermen Clip Continentals in Tight Contest

The Chesapeake Continentals got a superb performance from pitcher Kyung-nam Kim, but the Myrtle Beach Mermen still won the game, 3-1. Kim was named the player of the game despite the loss. He threw 5 innings of 4-hit ball. Myrtle Beach reliever Aaron Houchens picked up the win, upping his record to 4-2. Mat Tengku was saddled with the loss. Myrtle Beach has now won 3 straight, while the Continentals have lost 5 in a row.
Cody Blackburn made it 2-1 in favor of Myrtle Beach when he delivered a run-scoring single. It came with two out in the top of the ninth. The Mermen went on to win.
"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Blackburn said.
