Continentals Continue Skid Thanks to Cobblepot, Mermen
|
Behind a solid performance from right fielder Maikel Cobblepot, the Myrtle Beach Mermen defeated the Chesapeake Continentals, 8-2. Cobblepot was 3 for 5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 4 for the Mermen. The 5th-place Continentals have lost 4 straight games.
Early in the game, shortstop Ramón Flores had a 2-run single for Myrtle Beach. It was his 79th hit of the season and put the Mermen on top, 2-1.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Flores told the Myrtle Beach Today.
