The Myrtle Beach Mermen topped the Asheville Highlanders by the score of 8-5, with the largest share of the credit going to first baseman Gomez Talone. Talone was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Mermen. The Mermen' win now puts them at 28-38.

Talone had a game-changing home run in the top of the eighth. On a 1-2 curveball from Ricky O'Toole, he banged a 3-run home run to right, giving the Mermen a 8-5 lead. It was the 5th home run of the year for Talone.
