Rails Bang Out 7-2 Win Versus Myrtle Beach
|
The Richland Rails stymied the Myrtle Beach Mermen, 7-2, at Rails Ballpark. Víctor Puente, who had a good day at the plate, was named player of the game. He went 3-4 with a home run and a triple, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for Richland. The winner was Poto Scacceri, who threw 94 pitches over 7 innings. The right-hander was charged with 1 run on 4 hits. The Mermen, now 27-36, have lost 5 in a row.
Puente contributed a big hit, a 2-run triple, for Richland in the bottom of the first. With his team trailing 1-0, Puente took a fastball from Gregory Bahena and stroked the triple to center. His 1st triple of the season allowed the Rails to leap in front, 2-1.
"We'll enjoy this win," said Puente. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."
