Chesapeake Continentals starter Pang Qin pitched a strong game against the Asheville Highlanders at Chesapeake Grounds, leading the Continentals to a 5-1 win. Qin, now 6-3, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 7, walking 1, and allowing no earned runs. At 31-29, the Continentals find themselves in 4th place in the Premier AA.

The Continentals beat the Highlanders in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out home run Carlos Rúbio produced in the bottom of the first. Batting against Asheville pitcher Julián Menchaca, Rúbio gave his team a 3-0 lead when he hit a 3-run home run.

"I play this game for myself and my family, but of course it's always nice when we can win," said Rúbio.
