Asheville pitcher Claudio Salazar did his part in helping his team beat the Chesapeake Continentals, 5-3. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Ricky O'Toole was called on to finish, recording his 4th save. The win puts the Highlanders at 22-37, while the Continentals drop to 30-29.

The Highlanders got a big at-bat from center fielder Matt Hooper. For the game, Hooper was 1 for 4. In the top of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 26th hit of the season gave Asheville a 1-0 lead.

Hooper told a Asheville Daily News reporter that he was "more than satisfied" with the win.
