Valdéz Sensational for Continentals
Juan Valdéz pitched a gem to lead Chesapeake to a 6-1 victory over the Asheville Highlanders. The Continentals bumped their record to 24-21 with this latest triumph.

Valdéz was in the zone all game. He frustrated Asheville hitters while giving the Continentals 8.1 innings of quality work. Valdéz threw 102 pitches, allowing 2 hits and getting 3 punchouts.

"We put it together today and came out with the win," Valdéz said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
