Thrilling Walk-Off Win for Screaming Eagles
Mercer Island left fielder Stanley van de Ven picked up 3 ribbies while helping his team beat back the Tacoma Fur Traders, 5-4. Mercer Island reliever Arthur Clough picked up the win to move to 1-0. Jeff Pearce suffered the loss. The Screaming Eagles, now 19-16, have won 4 in a row.

Bastiaan Trommel was the walk-off hero for Mercer Island. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Screaming Eagles third baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

"We squandered some opportunities," said Tacoma manager David Márquez.
