The Asheville Highlanders eked out a 3-2 win versus the Mercer Island Screaming Eagles at Asheville Park. Nobody did more than pitcher Claudio Salazar, who captured player of the game honors. Asheville reliever Ricky O'Toole picked up the win, upping his record to 2-3. Malulani Anakone shouldered the loss. The 8th-place Screaming Eagles have lost 5 consecutive games.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 12th inning, when Asheville designated hitter Matt Hooper, facing Malulani Anakone, had a run-scoring double. It gave the Highlanders the 3-2 win.

"It was terrific getting this win," Salazar said. "We put in a lot of work to do it."
