Sancho Romero had a good game, but he could not keep the Myrtle Beach Mermen from falling, 6-5, to the Tacoma Fur Traders at Ballpark of Tacoma. The Myrtle Beach designated hitter went 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once in the loss. Tacoma is now 13-12. Myrtle Beach is 13-12.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the bottom of the fifth, with Tacoma trailing 3-2, Gustavo González was at the plate when Tacoma scored 2 on an error. The miscue enabled the Fur Traders to go in front, 4-3.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Tacoma manager David Márquez.
