The Asheville Highlanders topped the Myrtle Beach Mermen by the score of 11-7, with the biggest share of the credit going to second baseman Yves Girard. Girard went 4-6 with 2 doubles and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for the Highlanders on the day. Jesús Martínez recorded the save for Asheville, his 1st of the season.

Jeff Lowe aided the Asheville cause with a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the eighth. For the game, the catcher went 1-3 with 2 walks, while adding 3 RBI.
