Highlanders Win in Glorious Fashion
|
The Asheville Highlanders got a magnificent performance from pitcher Fernando Varela, who muffled the Northville offense en route to a tight 1-0 Highlanders win at Asheville Park. The Eclipse, now 9-6, continue their sluggish start.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 11th inning, when Asheville left fielder Pedro Gutiérrez, facing Javier Luna, had a run-scoring single. It gave the Highlanders the 1-0 win.
"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," Northville manager Juan Padilla said following the tough loss.
