The Bakersfield Nobles did just enough to sneak past the Calgary Lynx, 4-3, at Jerome Grounds. Bakersfield pitcher Bastião Shwerin earned player of the game honors. Shwerin, now 8-1, was the winner. In 5 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 3, walking 2, and allowing 2 earned runs. Earning his 2nd save for Bakersfield was Greg Davis.
Also making an impact was catcher Marcos Reyes, who drilled a run-scoring double in the bottom of the fifth inning for the Nobles. For the game, Reyes went 2-4 with a double.
"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," Calgary manager Ricardo Betancourt said following the tough loss.
The first-place Nobles have a one-game lead in their division.
