Yakima got a terrific performance from pitcher Abraham van der Meulen, but it wasn't enough to beat the Casper Ghosts. Casper won the Hops Park contest, 4-3. van der Meulen was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 5 innings of shutout ball. The winner was John Castle in relief. His record improves to 4-5. Daniel Gill took the loss. Today's win puts Casper at 39-61, while Yakima falls to 60-40.
This game was not decided until late. With one out in the top of the ninth, Steve Weber drew a walk, driving in 1 run. The Ghosts took the lead, 4-3.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Weber told the Casper Daily.
