Piranhas Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Patriots
|
Panama City starter Robinson Suárez pitched effectively against the Boston Patriots at Dunkin Donuts Park. The right-hander led his team to a 3-1 win. Suárez got the win, improving to 7-2. He allowed 5 hits and walked 1 over 8 innings. Suárez allowed 1 earned run. Mark Valle was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 20 of 25 save opportunities.
Had José Ruíz not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 1st, Ruíz hit a 2-run home run. That made the score 3-1, in favor of the Piranhas.
"We take it day by day here," said Suárez, "and today was a good one for us."
The Piranhas own a robust 51-28 mark.
