The Virginia Beach Deuces topped the Glendale Herons, 4-3, in M3L Double A action at Virginia Beach Grounds. The player of the game was Virginia Beach pitcher Pleun Davidse. José Barquero sewed up the save, his 9th. Virginia Beach has now won 7 straight.
Had Iikka Karpinen not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Karpinen hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Deuces.
"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Karpinen said after the game.
