Nationals Turn Back Bethesda, 4-3
|
The Ottawa Nationals picked up a win at Atoms Field, knocking off the Bethesda Atoms, 4-3. Starting pitcher Octávio Moya, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. In 8 innings, Moya surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 9 and walking 1. He allowed 3 runs. Ed Maresh notched his 17th save in 18 chances.
Alan Shaw drove in one run for Ottawa. The 22-year old center fielder had a key at-bat in the top of the seventh. With one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Sergio Reyes. It was his 20th RBI of the season.
"We played a good game and came out on top," said Moya.
Ottawa, at 27-41, sits in last place in the Menard's AA.
