Nationals Mow Down Thunder Hawks, 9-3
|
The Ottawa Nationals topped the Ft. Polk South Thunder Hawks by the score of 9-3, with the biggest share of the credit going to third baseman Mike Jennings. Jennings was 1 for 2 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3 for the Nationals on the day. Ottawa reliever Ron Burgundy picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Louis McDowell was saddled with the loss. Ottawa is now 21-32, Ft. Polk South 26-27.
Jennings contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Ottawa in the bottom of the fourth. With his team trailing 3-2, Jennings took a forkball from Louis McDowell and stroked the home run to left. His 8th home run of the season allowed the Nationals to leap in front, 5-3.
"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Jennings.
