The Marquette Miners topped the Casper Ghosts, 7-4, in M3L Double A action at The Graveyard. The player of the game was Marquette pitcher and Covington, Ohio native Devin Gaines. Gaines picked up the win for Marquette, going 6.2 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 4-3. Felipe Pereira recorded the save for Marquette, his 3rd of the season.
One of the key players for the Miners was first baseman Rocky Cantrell, who drilled a bases-clearing double in the top of the fourth inning. For the game, Cantrell went 1-4 with a double. He drove in 3 runs.
"It's nice to come out on top today," said Gaines.
Marquette is now 23-19. Casper is 18-24.
