Polar Bears Take Down Miners, 6-2
|
The exploits of third baseman António Canales helped the Billings Polar Bears defeat the Marquette Miners, 6-2. Canales was 4 for 4 with a double and 3 singles. He scored 2 runs. José Tovar picked up the save for Billings, his 4th of the year. The Polar Bears now have a mark of 12-15.
Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic-born Armando Reyes came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the fourth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd and the Polar Bears trailing 1-0, he hit a 2-run single to right to put Billings on top.
"It was sure nice to get the win but there's a lot of baseball left," Canales after the game.
