Victory Pushes Dodgers Record to 43-28
|
The Brooklyn Dodgers defeated the Phoenix Hotspur, 3-2, in United States Premier League action at Ebbetts Field, with Brooklyn pitcher Todd Hines named player of the game. In 6.1 innings, Hines surrendered 2 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 5. He allowed no runs. Sjaak Bonne notched his 24th save in 27 chances.
The Dodgers got a big at-bat from third baseman Gustavo Mateo. For the game, Mateo went 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fourth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 13th home run of the season gave Brooklyn a 2-0 lead.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Mateo told reporters after the game.
