Red-Hot Delaney Scorches Hops
Nationals shortstop Raleigh Delaney had his way with Yakima pitching today at Nationals Park and mauled them for 5 hits in 7 at-bats. His efforts were all in vain, though, as the Hops ruined his great day by toppling the Nationals, 9-8.

"I had a great day, but you've got to give Yakima credit, they did what they had to do to win," he told reporters after the game. "They weren't very impressed with my 5 hits."

"Oh, we noticed what Delaney did today," Hops skipper Craig Walters said. "He had quite a game. I can tell you this, we will pitch him a little differently the next time we face him."

Raleigh Delaney doubled in the 2nd, flied out in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 8th, grounded out in the 10th, doubled in the 13th and doubled in the 15th.

This year Delaney has collected a .426 batting average to date with 20 hits in 47 at-bats, 5 RBIs, no home runs and scored 6 times. He has played in 12 games.
