Bowties Get Past Kingston Township for 2-1 Win
|
The Buckhead Bowties topped the Kingston Township Legion, 2-1, in Menard's Third League action at Cloverdale Legion Park. The player of the game was Buckhead pitcher David Buchanan. Tomás Vargas, credited with the save, is now 6 for 7 in save opportunities. Buckhead, at 46-42, occupies 6th place in the Third League.
Had Seishiro Nishimura not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Nishimura hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Bowties.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Buchanan, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
