Patriots Get One-Run Win at Richardson City
|
The Boston Patriots did just enough to secure a 5-4 victory over the Richardson City Thundercats at The Thunder Dome. Nobody did more than pitcher Jesús Franco, who captured player of the game honors. Franco got the win, improving to 8-2. He allowed 5 hits and walked 3 over 7.1 innings. Franco allowed 3 earned runs. Boston is now 32-34, while Richardson City is 27-39.
Jorge Velázquez, who is on pace to hit 21 home runs this season, helped out the Boston cause in the top of the first inning with a run-scoring sacrifice fly. For the game, the designated hitter drew 1 walk in 4 plate appearances. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"We squandered some opportunities," said Richardson City manager Imran Kopitar.
