Hotspur Slip Past Chicago, 6-5
|
The Phoenix Hotspur turned back the Chicago Gold Sox, 6-5, at Chase Field. Gabriel Pérez was named player of the game for his fine performance. He belted 3 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored three times. Phoenix reliever Santiago Alonza picked up the win, bumping his record to 4-0. Rafael García was collared with the loss. Phoenix is now 34-31. Chicago is 28-37.
Pérez had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the tenth. On a 2-0 fastball from Rafael García, he banged a solo home run to left-center, giving the Hotspur a 6-5 lead. It was the 14th home run of the year for Pérez.
"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Chicago manager John S. "The effort was great."
