Thundercats Come Back Late to Top Patriots
|
The Richardson City Thundercats did just enough to sneak past the Boston Patriots, 9-8, at The Thunder Dome. Richardson City designated hitter Tomás Martínez earned player of the game honors. The Patriots, now 31-33, have lost 5 straight.
Martínez contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Richardson City in the bottom of the ninth. With his team trailing 8-7, Martínez took a fastball from Jorge Aguirre and stroked the home run to left. His 17th home run of the season allowed the Thundercats to leap in front, 9-8.
"I was able to barrel up some pitches," said Martínez.
