Lake Monsters Stymie Tortolita, Take 4-1 Win
|
Vermont Lake Monsters starter Bryan Boyd turned in a top-notch performance against the Tortolita Drummers at Monster Field. The result was a win for the Lake Monsters, 4-1. Boyd got the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed 7 hits and walked 3 over 7 innings. Boyd allowed 1 earned run. Santo Velazco notched his 13th save in 15 chances.
Robert La Caze was 1 for 3 with a walk for Vermont. The slick-fielding center fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Dave Seals. It was his 14th RBI of the season.
"Being able to contribute to a win is always a great feeling," Boyd told the Vermont Herald.
The Drummers, now 34-39, have lost 4 straight.
