Drummers Fall to .500 After Loss to Halberds
|
The Alloway Halberds beat the Tortolita Drummers, 8-5, at Drummers Ballpark. The win was largely due to the efforts of first baseman Tracy Parker, who captured player of the game honors. He was 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Francisco García got the win, improving to 5-7. He worked 6.2 innings, giving up 5 runs on 8 hits, while striking out 1 and walking 7. Alloway is now 34-30. Tortolita is 32-32.
Alloway took control in the top of the sixth. With one out and a runner on 1st, Juan Salinas hit a run-scoring triple to make it 5-4, Halberds.
"We maximized our offense today," said Alloway skipper Santiago Vargas. "That makes everyone's life easier."
