Drummers Squelch Braves Offense in Shutout Win
|
Fred Gunther pitched well, but the Gryfindor Braves still lost the game, falling 3-0 to the Tortolita Drummers at Drummers Ballpark. Tortolita reliever Ricardo Ruíz picked up the win to move to 3-2. Fred Gunther suffered the loss. Briggs Bourgeois, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 11th save.
Tortolita took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the seventh inning. With no one out, left fielder Martín Cruz hit a solo home run that set the crowd abuzz.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Tortolita manager Arturo Chávez.
The Drummers saw their record improve to 32-31.
