Freitas Rips Alloway for 5 Hits
|
Luis Freitas put on a hitting clinic today as the Vermont Lake Monsters dumped the Alloway Halberds 9-5 at Monster Field.
The Vermont center fielder made Alloway defenders earn their pay, lashing Alloway pitching for 5 hits in 5 at-bats in the game. He told BNN reporters after the game that his strategy was "just hit it where they pitched it."
"Too often I try too hard to pull the ball," Freitas said in his postgame press conference. "Today, I just went with the pitch."
Luis Freitas singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off José Trejo in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 6th and hit a two-run home run off Akihiko Rin in the 8th.
Freitas is hitting .342 this year with 3 home runs and 16 RBIs. He also has an OBP of .440, 19 walks and scored 24 times.
