Big Day for García as Reserves Down Halberds, 8-1
|
The Athletic Club KC Reserves bested the Alloway Halberds by a score of 8-1, with first baseman Tony García getting the main credit. On the day, García was 3 for 3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 for the Reserves. Jeremy G. Wentworth, the winner, improved to 4-5. He held the Halberds to no earned runs on 1 hit over 6 innings, while striking out 4 and walking 4. The Reserves' win now puts them at 30-27.
With runners on 1st and 2nd and two out in the bottom of the fourth inning, designated hitter Andrés Medina delivered big for the Reserves. Athletic Club KC was leading 4-1 when he belted a 3-run home run.
"I felt we were ready to go," said Athletic Club KC manager Henry Russell. "Our pregame was pretty good."
